John Esposito

Dr. Muqtedar Khan is Assistant Professor of Political Science at Adrian College in Michigan. He is a Visiting Fellow at Brookings Institution and a Fellow of the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding.

He earned his Ph.D. in International Relations, Political Philosophy, and Islamic Political Thought, from Georgetown University in May 2000.

His specialty is Islam and Politics, Religion and International Affairs, Islam and Global Terrorism, and the impact of Islamic movements from North Africa to Southeast Asia. Professor Esposito teaches classes on Islam and Politics, Islam and the West, Women in Islam, Islam and Global Terrorism and Religion in International Affairs.

He lectures widely in the US and in the World and is considered as one of the World's preeminent authorities on Islam.

Editor-in-Chief of the four-volume Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World, The Oxford History of Islam, The Oxford Dictionary of Islam, and The Islamic World: Past and Present, his more than 30 books include: What Everyone Should Know About Islam: Questions and Answers, Unholy War: Terror in the Name of Islam, The Islamic Threat: Myth or Reality?, Islam and Politics, Islam and Democracy (with J.
